Andrew Weeden is, without a doubt, one of the best musicians I've ever worked with. A brilliant pianist, his interpretations of John Paul Jones' synth work were always dead-on. With Andrew on keys and our own "Brian Paul Jones" on bass, it gave the expression "keeping up with the Joneses" a whole new meaning. And it enabled us to adhere to album versions and actually be able to execute them appropriately on stage, something the real Zeppelin never did. But when it comes to songs they never performed live ("D'Yer Ma'ker", "Fool In The Rain", etc) Andrew made this possible. We'll always be grateful for his contributions to our show.
And he's funny as hell, too. The British sense of humour (for lack of a better way to put it) is even funnier in person. Andrew always kept us laughing, *and* was extraordinarily encouraging, with a Christ-like sense of patience, as he helped coach us (a bunch of Okies) with our feigned British accents. Poor fellow. I hope we didn't frustrate him too much!
We miss Andrew, and while we've had to replace him with another fellow doing keys off-stage, we look forward to his next visit to the Sooner state.
Best of luck to you, Andrew, and for God's sake, keep in touch, mate!!
